Wise, Edward N. (Benton)

Edward N. Wise, 76, of Benton, TN, passed away on Sunday, February. 24, 2013, in Pensacola, FL. 

Edward was born in South Pittsburgh, TN on October 20, 1935, the son of the late Norris and Ruby Wise. He had made Benton his home since the early 1980’s. He was a veteran of the United States Army, who served his country during the Korean War. He was a retired Truck Driver who lived for family and friends. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 33 years, Betty Wise. 

He is survived by one step-son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Penny Mccall of Pensacola; three grandchildren, Steven (Cory) Mccall of Shelton, WA, Ricky Mccall of Virgina Beach, VA and Christifer Mccall of Fort Polk, LA; and numerous other extended family members and friends. 

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at Smyrna Baptist Church, Smyrna Road, Ocoee TN. 

Higgins Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Rayford John McLaurin, 91, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Mr. McLaurin was a retired professor of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. A native of Mississippi he was the son of the late Colon and Elma Harper McLaurin. He was a graduate of Bowling Green University and received his MBA at the University of Alabama. Fred Glenn Cook, Jr.

Fred Glenn Cook, Jr. 83, Rossville, died on Monday July 28, 2014. He was a native and lifelong resident of Walker County, the son of the late Fred and Eva Harris Cook.  Mr. Cook joined the First Baptist Church of Rossville on May 22, 1941. City Council Presents Potential Ordinance To Address Noise Level Downtown

Members of the Chattanooga City Council presented a potential ordinance to address concerns about the noise level downtown. If passed, the ordinance will put limits to both dB(A) and dB(C) levels of sound. It was noted, "When we compare our dB level, it is clear that Chattanooga is lower than Nashville and Knoxville." Harr Outlines $40 Million Plan For Chattanooga Light Rail System

Outgoing Chamber of Commerce President Ron Harr on Monday outlined a $40 million plan for a Chattanooga light rail system that would serve not only downtown, but also the Airport and the Enterprise South Industrial Park.
