Moats, "Sonny" Clyde (Cleveland)

“Sonny” Clyde Moats, 87, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at a Chattanooga hospice facility. 

He was a member of Ocoee Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Moats; parents, General and Lizzy Moats; sons, Michael, LaVaughn and Danny Moats; grandson, Brandon Moats; and brothers, Kennith and G.W. Moats. 

He is survived by his children, Archie Moats, Golda and Russell Coward, Edward and Brenda Moats and Thelma and Diego Valencia, all of Cleveland; ten grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence Moats; sister, Audrey Peters; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 28, at Chestuee Baptist Church, located in the Chestuee Community in Polk Co. with the Reverend Jim Smith and the Reverend Gary Higgins officiating. Interment will follow in Chestuee Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, at Higgins Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements, and on Thursday, February 28 from 1-2 p.m. at Chestuee Baptist Church prior to the service. 


Shearer, Robert (McDonald)

Dr. Robert Shearer 96, of McDonald, Tennessee, died on Monday, July 27, 2014 after a long illness surrounded by his loved ones. Thomas “Bud” Franklin Stapp, 73, of Ringgold, Georgia, died on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at his residence. KFC Manager Arrested After Staging Fake Robbery
