Forum With Mayoral And City Council Candidates Is Friday

A forum with the candidates runnign for Chattanooga mayor and City Council will be held Friday at Eastdale Recreation Center, Moss Street.

Guests may meet the candidates and enjoy refreshments from 5:30-6 p.m.  The forum with citizen submitted questions will begin at 6 p.m.  It will be moderated by local radio personality Sam Terry, WNOO program director at Glory 1260AM.

Mayoral candidates will include Senator Andy Berke, Chester Heathington, Jr. and Guy Satterfield.  

City Council District 9 candidates are District 9 City Councilman Peter Murphy and Commissioner Yusuf Hakeem, former District 9 councilman.

Early voting is Feb. 13-28.  The election day is March 5.  

The event is supported by North Brainerd, Foxwood Heights, Eastdale, Pin Oaks, Dalewood, Avondale, and Glenwood residents in City Council District 5 and 9.

 

Rheubin Taylor Honored By Freedoms Foundation Chapter

Longtime County Attorney Rheubin Taylor was honored by the local chapter of Freedoms Foundation. He served on the original Hamilton County Commission before being named county attorney.  The Chattanooga Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge National Awards Presentation and Membership Reception was held at the Harrison Ruritan Club.  (click for more)

No Lane Closures On Tennessee Highways During The Thanksgiving Holiday

Thanksgiving travelers will not be slowed by construction on Tennessee roads during this busy travel holiday. Grote Hall At UTC Campus Closed Due To Sinkhole

A sinkhole has prompted UTC officials to close off access to Grote Hall. Grote Hall employees have been told they do not need to report to work on Monday. Classes that are held in Grote Hall are called off for Monday. All other classes and campus activities are on for Monday. (click for more)

Bradley County Police Investigating Shooting; Victim Dies

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of Georgetown Road. The sheriff's office said Sunday night that the victim had died.
