DeWayne Edward Smith, 47, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 5, 2013.  

A native of Chattanooga, he was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church and had a strong Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herbert and Viola Smith and Mabel Van Brunt; aunt, Alma Schmitt; and nephew, Shane Wilson.

Survivors include his parents, James and Barbara Smith; sisters, Deborah (David) Hobbs and Karen (Gary) Ellis; brothers, Tim Westmoreland and Darryl Westmoreland; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace with Reverend O’Dell Broadway officiating.  Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.  Wallace Smith, Jesse Smith, Phil Wood, Kevin Higgins, Kevin Creswell and Tyler Westmoreland will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers are Gary Ellis, David Hobbs, Brad Rhodes, Marc Creswell and Virgil Messer.  

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, 877-3524.
