A 19-year-old has been charged with filing a false police report that led to an hour-long lockdown at Erlanger Hospital and a room-to-room search.

Taken into custody was Adam Daniel Mahaffey, of 1633 Eucalyptus Dr.

Police said Mahaffey reported seeing a black male with a handgun going up toward the labor and delivery area of the hospital.

That led to the Chattanooga Police Department setting up a command post and rushing into action a dozen city police officers, 11 Walden Security guards and two sheriff deputies.

Police said Mahaffey later  backed up on his story and told different versions. He asked at one point if he was in trouble. Then he asked if he could be released with a warning.

Hospital personnel said due to the lockdown that certain patients could not be moved to areas where they had treatments scheduled.

Stormwater Fiasco And East Ridge Camping

When did the Chattanooga City Council get replaced by members of the East Ridge City Council? Roy Exum: Why I Am Thankful

You would think that after 40 years of publishing an annual list of things for which I am thankful, I’d be getting to the bottom of it, but it seems the older I get I have found I appreciate so much more around me. Tennessee’s football season from hell comes to a mind-numbing conclusion on Saturday when the limping Vols take on a crippled Vanderbilt at Neyland Stadium at 4 p.m. in a game some network boob in a dark, smokey room in Birmingham, Alabama, decided was good enough to be televised by the SEC Network. Each of the longtime bitter rivals is 4-7 overall and a dismal 0-7 in conference ... (click for more)

I can’t believe it’s that time again.  Another year has come and gone and where did it all go? My father once told me that time really flies as you get older and I’m starting to believe him. But we’re back to one of my favorite holidays of the year – Thanksgiving – and I’m looking forward to spending quality time with family and friends.  I’m sure that I’ll eat too ... (click for more)
