Gamma Theta Sigma Hosts Youth Symposium March 9

Gamma Theta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and Hyksos Temple No. 123 Prince Hall Shriners, A.E.A.O.N.M.S., Inc. will host Youth Symposium 2013 on Saturday, March 9 at Booker T. Washington State Park Group Lodge from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  The event is free and open to parents and youth ages 11 thru 18.  

The event will feature interactive sessions, a panel discussion, door prizes, and a free lunch. Attendees should wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes to take part in all the activities.  Weather permitting, some activities will be outside.

Featured speaker, Deborah Shirley is an expert in helping people achieve their dreams, whether in the glamorous Entertainment Industry, the high-stress arena of Business, or the high-profile world of Politics. For over twenty years, Deborah Shirley held various positions with Ambiance Models & Talent, Inc. Deborah is the author of the forthcoming book, How to Get Discovered at Your Workplace. She has shared her inspirational message, Win with the Hand You Were Dealt, with thousands of teens and young adults across the Southeast United States and Southern California.

The theme is, "H3:It's All About Me - Healthy Choices, Healthy Living, Healthy Generations".  Topics for discussion will focus on developing youth physically, mentally, and spiritually.  Participants will have the opportunity to take a variety of “fit-tests”, gain information on college preparation.

Police said a Highland Park woman helped crack a mystery about a rash of recent gasoline thefts involving the cutting of expensive gas lines.
