Haley Fagen (92) pitched Chattanooga State softball to a 4-2 win over Walters State on Saturday, handing the visitors their first conference loss. But the Lady Tigers dropped the second game 14-8. Walters State won games Friday by 1-0 and 6-3.
Walters State improves to 14-3, 7-1. Chattanooga State is now 14-8, 5-3.
In the opener Kelsey Weddle outdueled Fagen in a game that went nine innings. Andrea Eison homered to left center to open the top of the ninth and that held up for the win by the visitors.
Chattanooga State had six hits on the game, but could not push across a run.
The second game on Friday went into the eighth inning. Eison again homered to left center, bringing across three runs. Shelby Willard had 13 strikeouts in the 6-3 loss.
Eison once again homered in the opener on Saturday, but the Lady Tigers got the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the fifth on two sacrifice flies.
Marina Wilkerson went 5-12 (.416) with two home runs and five stolen bases. Khadija Neely was 4-12 (.333) with two homers. Beth Breeden and Lacye Walker each homered.
