WINONA LAKE, Ind. -- Tennessee Temple's 13-game winning streak apparently failed to impress those seeding this week's NCCAA men's basketball tournament. At 22-11, the Crusaders were ranked 7th in the eight-team field, despite winning three games to earn the Mid-East tournament title this past Saturday at Tennessee Temple.
As No. 7 seed, Temple is slotted to face No. 2 seed Cedarville (20-8), champion of the Great Midwest tournament, in the final quarterfinal round contest Wednesday at 9:15 p.
m at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind. Should the Crusaders win, they would take on the winner of the 1:45 game Wednesday that pits Oklahoma Wesleyan (19-11) and Spring Arbor (22-10).
Game time for the semifinal is 5:15 Thursday.
The tournament's top seed went to Fresno Pacific (20-7), which will face Roberts Wesleyan (8-19), the No. 8 seed, at 5:15 Wednesday. The tournament will open with a noon tipoff between Shorter College (18-11) and Mid-America Christian (17-12). Shorter, in its first year as a member of the NCCAA, played its way into the tournament by winning the South Regional.
