Beverly P. Johnson, administrator, Department of Neighborhood Services and Community Development, announces systematic neighborhood inspections are being conducted by the Code Enforcement division. Systematics are inspections carried out on a routine basis by teams of code enforcement inspectors checking every property in designated neighborhoods to prevent the accumulation of violations and to maintain healthy and safe conditions for residents. The inspections are randomly performed in neighborhoods throughout the city and in each council district.
Systematic inspections are done to keep neighborhoods looking their best. Homeowners receive a notice advising them of specific violations and given an opportunity to bring the property into compliance within a specified time period. If the property owner fails to achieve compliance within this period, they may be cited to court.
On March 15, areas of following neighborhoods will be inspected:
Avondale – Wheeler Avenue
Clifton Hills
Teams of code enforcement inspectors will be going block by block in these neighborhoods inspecting each parcel for City code violations including litter, overgrowth, abandoned vehicles and housing code violations. Signs will be posted in the neighborhood in advance to advise residents that the code inspectors will be present.
