Open auditions for several lead roles in the Shakespeare Chattanooga/Grace Players production of All’s Well That Ends Well will be held March 17 and 18 from 6-9 p.m. each night.
Performances will be Aug.16-18 and 23-25 and the intensive rehearsal period will be late June through opening. Participants are asked to audition only if they are available during this time. Auditions for other roles will be held later.
odern-dress production will be directed by Stephanie Smith with Janis Hashe producing. Actors are requested to bring headshot and resume if they have them. Sides will be provided at auditions. Singers will be asked to sing a few bars.
Roles being cast at this audition include:
Helena (18-21 or can play this age) – A commoner; the daughter of a doctor; raised by the Countess. Madly in love with Bertram to the point of obsession. Relentless in her quest for unrequited love.
Bertram (21-30, or can play this age) – A handsome empty-headed count. In love with himself. Desires military glory.
Parolles (40-50) – The “bad” guy; an impostor, a liar – complex and calculating; constantly looking for ways to be a fly in the ointment.
The Countess (50-65, or can play this age) – Bertram’s mother; raised Helena as her foster child – loves her deeply. Supports her quest to secure Bertram.
LaFew (40-60, or can play this age. Potential for gender-bending this role) –French lord in service of the king.
Fool (30-40, age flexible) – Court Jester; sings and moves well.
Auditions will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 20 Belvoir Ave., on the Sunbeam Avenue side of church, look for signs.
