City public works officials said a long mediation session on Monday ended with an agreement that settles a long-running dispute over payment for construction of a greenway bridge over South Chickamauga Creek.
The bridge opened a year and a half ago.
The settlement includes an increased amount of $181,150.91 to Signature Bridge, Inc.
Counting use of contingency funds, the extra payout for the city was about $114,000, it was stated.
Dennis Malone of public works said the city last December offered to settle for $161,000.
He said there was a change in the specific location of the bridge as well as a necessity to make it higher than first planned.
