UTC Women's Tennis Team Ranked 67th

First National Ranking in D-I Era

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team received its first national ranking as a Division I program today. The Lady Mocs checked in at No. 67 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association's NCAA Division I Women's Team Rankings.

"This is a big accomplishment for our program," stated head coach Jeff Clark. "We still have a lot of work to dothis season, but to see our student-athletes get recognized for their hard work is great for UTC tennis. This program has a tremendous amount of tradition, including six national championships at the AIAW and Division II level, so it is great to see us getting noticed on a national level again."

The Lady Mocs are 10-2 overall and 2-2 in Southern Conference action. UTC jumped into the top-75 ranking by defeating No. 59 Elon on Sunday. That win snapped the Phoenix's (11-2, 1-1 SoCon) 11-match winning streak and was the first win over a ranked team for the Lady Mocs at the Division I level.

Chattanooga started the spring season on an 8-0 run, including a school-record five straight shutouts. The Lady Mocs are an impressive 61-10 in singles play in the spring.

Next Match:  UTC has one match this week, visiting Mercer Wednesday at 2 p.m. (E.D.T.). A link for live scoring is available on the women's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.

Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem

The Delta Queen is a magnificent part of history and in many ways I'm pleased she is in town. Having the boat where she is is the problem. The crew take many of the parking spots around the park leaving families to park across Frazier and schlep their kids, strollers and picnics to the park. You don't get fireworks ... (click for more)
