UTC Women's Tennis Team At Mercer

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis has one non-conference match on the schedule this week. The Lady Mocs travel to Macon, Ga., to face Mercer on Wednesday, March 13. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. A link for live scoring is available on the women's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.

UTC is 10-2 overall and coming off an impressive 4-3 win over No. 59 Elon on Sunday. The Lady Mocs are 2-2 in Southern Conference action after splitting last week's matches with the Phoenix and UNCG (3-4).

The Bears are 4-6 overall after Sunday's 5-2 loss at Wofford. Mercer is 0-3 against SoCon schools this spring, including a 7-0 loss at Samford on Feb. 2 and a 6-1 defeat at Georgia Southern on Feb. 10.

SophomoreKaylene Chadwell (Franklin, Tenn.) is on an 11-match winning streak. She lost her spring season opener and has not been beaten since. She is 11-1 in the spring, all at No. 2, and 15-7 overall.

Senior Jenna Nuirk (Roswell, Ga.) is 10-2 at No. 1 while freshmanKayla Jones (Memphis, Tenn.) is 9-1 at No. 3. Jones has an 11-1 spring record and leads the team with a 22-3 overall singles mark.

JuniorAlexa Flynn (Memphis, Tenn.) has returned from an injury to take the No. 4 spot, while freshmanKelsey Coots (Huntsville, Ala.) is 4-0 at No. 5. Sophomore Claire Mulyadi (Semarang, Indonesia) is 10-1 in the spring and 4-1 at No. 6.

Nurik and Chadwell lead the team with a 12-4 doubles record. They are 8-3 in the spring and look to snap a two-match slide against Mercer.


Chattanooga AAU Team Wins Division I State Championship

Rogers, 20, Shot Twice While Standing On His Porch

A 20-year-old man was shot twice while standing on his porch on Monday night. At approximately 8:44 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a shooting that occurred in the 1900 block of Walker Street.
