Man Who Died After High Fall On Signal Mountain Identified As Harvey Cagle

A 50-year-old man who died after a high fall on Signal Mountain on Wednesday afternoon has been identified as Harvey Cagle of Signal Mountain.

Authorities said the man was with a friend when he slipped and fell from the top of Rainbow Falls.

He was still alive when he was reached by rescue personnel, but he was severely injured. He died while rescuers were trying to bring him to the top.

Signal Mountain Police came to the scene, then the extrication resumed. Rescuers were trying to bring the body to the top prior to dark.

The 911 call came in at 4 p.m., concerning the accident.

The Signal Mountain Fire Department, Waldens Ridge Emergency Services, Red Bank Fire Department and Hamilton County Cave and Cliff team responded to the scene.

There were 16 rescue personnel on the Rainbow Falls trails.

Hamilton County EMS was with Mr. Cagle.

The investigation into this incident is continuing and information will come from the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s office.

Baylor's Popp Wins First Spring Fling State Title
