County To Form Audit Committee

County officials indicated Wednesday that an audit committee will be put into place for county government.

It will likely be made up of three members of the County Commission, it was stated.

County Auditor Bill McGriff said the county in the past had not seen the need for such a panel. He said the county has a AAA bond rating and an excellent finance staff.

However, he said the Haslam administration favors establishment of such audit committees and it is a key ingredient of obtaining certain grants.

UTC on Thursday held the official opening for its new $50 million library at Vine and Douglas. The five-story library replaces the Lupton Memorial Library at Vine near Palmetto, which will be converted for classrooms. It took four years to build. (click for more)
