Irish Music In 1st Centenary Sanctuary Services Sunday

The sounds of Irish music will be heard on Sunday at First-Centenary United Methodist Church, 419 McCallie Ave., at both the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. sanctuary services. Fiddlers, flute and cello will celebrate with festive music in remembrance that St. Patrick was responsible for bringing Christianity to Ireland. 

Dr. Doug Fairbanks will speak in the sanctuary services on "A Time of Sacrifice," with text from John 12:1-8. The Rev.  Brian Davis will speak at The Vine service at 10:45 a.

m. on "Fill My Cup, Lord," with text from John 19:28-29.


Burks UMC Hosts Youth Mission Trip, VBS

The Appalachian Summer Mission project of youth at Burks United Methodist Church, 6433 Hixson Pike, will be the week of June 23-29 in southern Kentucky. First-Centenary UMC Celebrates Dr. Harr's Pastoral Ministry Sunday

Police Say Women Fired Shots At Union Avenue House With 7 Children Inside

Police said several shots that were fired at a house on Union Avenue with several children inside came from a car occupied by three women. Clarissa M. Strickland, 30, of 722 Sylvan Dr., was charged with reckless endangerment and 10 counts of aggravated assault.
