Chattanooga State came back strong on Friday after an opening loss on the road to Jackson State 5-4. The Lady Tigers won the second game of the twinbill 20-2.
The two teams have another doubleheader on Saturday at noon and 2 p.m. (CST).
In the opener, Shelby Robertson was 2-2 with a run scored and a walk. Layce Walker was 2-3 with a walk. Baylee Williams doubled and scored a run and Beth Breeden was 2-4 with an RBI.
Haley Fagan took the loss, yielding 7 hits and 5 earned runs.
She had 6 strikeouts and 4 walks.
The bats came alive for the Lady Tigers in the second game as Robertson knocked in 5 runs and Marina Wilkerson 4. Robertson scored 5 times and Wilkerson came across the plate 4 times. Walker was 3-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI and Khadija Neely was 2-5 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Shelby Willard got the win. She gave up 5 hits and 2 earned runs in the 5-inning game. She had 7 strike outs and 2 walks.
