CCS Wins South Pittsburg Baseball Tournament

The Chattanooga Christian School baseball team came into the South Pittsburg tournament this weekend having not played a game on the young season due to a rain out on Monday. The Chargers won the championship 

In the first game of the tournament on Thursday, CCS out-slugged Franklin County 8-3 for their first win of the season. 

On Friday, down 4-3 in the 7th inning against Silverdale,, senior Garrett Woody launched a game tying home run to left field. The game ended in a tie after 8 innings. CCS was able to secure a spot in the semi-final game on Saturday with a 13-3 win against Lookout Valley in the late game Friday night.

On Saturday, CCS overcame a 4-0 early deficit against Grundy County by posting a 6-5 win. Sophomore Jared Miller launched a 2-out game winning single to left field to secure the win.

In the championship game against White County, CCS found themselves down 5-0 after the second inning. The Chargers were able to tie the game at 5 a piece but after another 7-5 deficit, Senior Jay Simms tied the game with a late inning double.

CCS would go on to win the game and the championship in the bottom of the 7th inning. Senior Lance Carter got the game winning 2 out hit to secure the title for the Chargers.
