The UTC Music Department will present the Campus Composers Concert coordinated by Jonathan McNair on Monday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. The performance will take place in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall at the UTC Fine Arts Center, 752 Vine St. and is presented free of charge and open to the general public. This will be an evening of world premiere performances.
This performance will showcase compositions by young musicians of UTC who alternatively conduct or perform their own arrangements. Music for voice, piano, brass and string instruments will be featured in these live performances. Among the composers involved are; composer/pianist Ethan McGrath, a recent winner in the Concerto Competitions at UTC and Southern Adventist University, composer/vocalist Skyy Bigford, violinist/pianist/composter Isaac Hinchman, saxophonist/composer DeAndre’ Mercer, Claus Crasselt, an exchange student from Germany, and tubist/band director/composer Angelo Kortyka, a graduate student who teaches at Central High School.
Composer Jonathan B. McNair's career has embraced the creation and performance of new music, community outreach, academic teaching, publishing, and church music. He is currently U.C. Foundation associate professor at UTC, where he serves as coordinator of Music Theory and artistic director of the Contemporary Music Symposium. He has performed recitals and held master-classes worldwide, in addition to being an accomplished composer.
