Police Blotter: Woman Has Rear Window Shot Out On Dodson Avenue

A woman told police she had the rear window of her car shot out as she drove on Dodson Avenue.

She said she encountered a group of juveniles blocking the street at 2700 Dodson. As she was passing the group, she heard a shot ring out.

Police interviewed her and saw the damage to her Volvo after she arrived at Hardy Elementary School.

Officials of Sears at Northgate said a white male was seen putting two Craftsmen drills under his loose-fitting plaid shirt.

He then took off without paying for the $200 in items.

He was last seen getting in a black Dodge pickup truck.

The manager at Ramada Inn on Birmingham Highway reported damage to one room and several items taken.

Sometime during the night, a hole was kicked in the wall and phone cords pulled out. Missing items included a TV, two blankets and a comforter.

It is difficult to know who to blame. Floyd Roe of Chattanooga spoke for the room. Cassandra Dangle of Ider, Ala., filled out the guest card. The credit card payment was in the name of Lisa R. Woods.

Richard Fitten said his sister's car was stolen while it was unlocked and the engine was running at their father's house on Wilson Street.

Shana Fitten said she had just paid $6,900 for the 2002 black Ford Explorer.


Funeral Service Will Be Saturday For Murder Victim Tammy Hale

Funeral services will be Saturday for 35-year-old Tammy Hale, whose battered body was found last Sunday at the home she shared on Lovell Road with Terry Releford. Releford later was tracked by authorities to a motel in Calhoun, Ga. He killed himself before officers could reach him. Ms. Hale was the manager of Liberty Tax Service in Hixson.
