Red Bank New Moon Pie Festival And Jubilee Announces Entertainers

The Red Bank Neighborhood Pride Association will present the 2013 New Moon Pie Festival and Jubilee Parade on April 20. The 34th annual event is sponsored by Chattanooga Bakery, maker of the World Famous MoonPie, Chattanooga's Greatest Hits, 107.9 BIG FM, the Tennessee Lottery, Red Bank Chamber of Commerce and Erlanger Health System. 

Barefoot Nellie and Co. will be headlining with their smooth driving bluegrass sounds.  The Pickled Pepper Pickers will also be playing with storytelling mixed in.

The Tennessee Lottery will be on hand with a chance to play Plinko and win prizes.  They will have information about one of their newest games, Moon Pie, the instant ticket that celebrates the “original marshmallow sandwich” and a chance to win up to $1,000. 

Celebrity teams will be competing in the MoonPie Eating Contest, kids can play in the inflatables and vendors include All About Glass, Strings & Things by Hannah and Sewing Up Blessings.

The event is free of charge and kicks off at 10 a.m. with the Jubilee Parade.  Skipper Fairbanks will be serving as the grand marshal of the parade.  The following is the schedule of activities:

10 a.m. – Jubilee Parade

11 a.m. – Celebrity MoonPie Eating Contest

Noon - Barefoot Nellie

1 p.m. -  East Ridge Cloggers

1:30 p.m. - Judy Baker and Vicky Hardesty with Pickled Pepper Pickers

3 p.m. -  Baton Twirling Majorette Team

3:20 p.m. - General Cook - 87 year Old Banjo Player, Philip Stewart - Red Bank Fiddler, Red Bank Sr. Citizen Center Acoustic Jam Band

4 p.m. - Close Stage

Library Offers New Baby Bounce Program

The Chattanooga Public Library now offers Baby Bounce, a unique story time for newborns to 18 month-old-children and their caregivers. Weight Limit On Standifer Gap Road Bridge Over Friars Branch Decreased To 6 Tons

The weight limit on the bridge over Friars Branch just west of Woodland Park Baptist Church on Standifer Gap Road has been lowered to six tons for all vehicles. This change is now in effect.    (click for more)

Man Stabbed To Death After Argument

A Chattanooga man was stabbed to death after an argument on Friday night. At approximately 11 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a stabbing at 101 E 20 th St. where they found the victim, Alexis Lewis, 51, lying on the walkway with a fatal stab wound to his chest. Baker Says City Withdrawal On Riverbend Security Will Make Pin Costs Rise Next Year

Riverbend Festival Executive Director Chip Baker told the Civitan Club on Friday that the city's decision to no longer provide city police officers inside the festival gates will cost pin prices to go up next year.
