Accessibility2013:CMD+R will bring four artists to Cleveland State Community College on Saturday– Saturday, April 6, to create new works of art on campus. The chosen artists work primarily with new interactive media to create works of art that rely on viewer participation and interaction.  

Students, as well as the general public, are invited to visit the campus over the course of the two week residency to view the artists at work, ask questions, participate in talks, view art and technology films and experience cutting edge technology. 

An opening reception will be held on Friday, April 5 from 4-7 p.m. where the finished works of art, along with work created by area students, will be on view. 

According to Mark McLeod, assistant professor of Art, Accessibility2009 focused on environmental sustainability and was a tremendous success with the involvement of over 800 students and community members. 

Accessibility2013 will focus on the arts and technology. With emerging trends such as virtual reality, video, cloud solutions, 3d printing, game design, digital photography and video and interactive new media, technology in the arts is at the forefront of cutting edge visual arts making. 

In addition to creating new works of art, the visiting artists will also work with local school students and Cleveland State students to create their own works of art. Accessibility was created to make the arts accessible to the public by removing it from the gallery space and placing it in the community.
