St. Francis Of Assissi Has Walk In Love Shoe Drive

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

St. Francis continues its annual Lenten outreach, providing as many pairs of shoes as it can to meet the needs of its homeless brothers and sisters. New this year, it is also collecting CARTA Bus Passes to help those needing transportation to job interviews and medical appointments.

Organizers said, "The need is monumental and contributions help support Brother Ron Fender at the Community Kitchen who ministers to the homeless."

The church is accepting donations of new or nearly-new men’s walking shoes (larger sizes are much needed), women’s walking shoes, new socks and other foot care products, and CARTA Bus passes.  These items will be blessed Maundy Thursday, March 28 at the 7 p.m. liturgy.

There is a collection barrel in front of the church or you can mail a check (please indicate this is for Brother Ron or Community Kitchen) to: St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, 7555 Ooltewah-Georgetown Road, Ooltewah, Tn. 37363.

Drop off all donations at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church. For more information, please call 238-7708 or email sfaec@comcast.net.

Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem

The Delta Queen is a magnificent part of history and in many ways I'm pleased she is in town. Having the boat where she is is the problem. The boat blocks the view of and from the prettiest park in our town. The crew take many of the parking spots around the park leaving families to park across Frazier and schlep their kids, strollers and picnics to the park. You don't get fireworks ... (click for more)

Last May ... (click for more)
