Peggy Michaels Among Those Honored In Tennessee Sports Hall Of Fame Celebration

The first weekend in May is a weekend of celebration for the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.  Leading up to its annual Induction Ceremony and Awards Banquet, the Hall of Fame will host the Reunion of Champions, a private event, at Adams and Reese Law Firm on Friday, May 3 – which will be attended by past inductees as well as the 2013 class of inductees.  

They include Peggy Michaels, head of the GPS Physical Education Department who has carried on despite dealing with MS.

On the morning of May 4, Delta Dental will present the Champion Within Luncheon at the Renaissance Hotel Nashville.  The luncheon will be emceed by Emmy Award winning sports broadcaster, Hope Hines.  

Doors will open at 11 a.m.

and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Fred Bailey, founder of Children Are People, an after-school program that offers disadvantaged Sumner County students a chance to develop the academic and life skills needed to succeed – is scheduled to appear as the keynote speaker. Mr. Bailey was a blind wrestler and TSU graduate.  

The luncheon will also honor Joan Cronan, Andrew Williams, Mike Reed, MTSU Head Football Coach, Rick Stockstill, Peggy Michaels, Rachel Bevans, Brian Baker, the Goodlettsville Little League Team and the 2013 Jeff Byrd Memorial Scholarship recipient, Tiffany Baines, a student at King University.  

Helping to honor these outstanding individuals will be members of the 2013 inductee class including Penny Hardaway, Kelly Holcomb, Trey Teague and Coach Rick Byrd who are all members of the 2013 Inductee Class being inducted that evening at the Hall of Fame’s signature event.
