Man Murdered In Alley On Vance Avenue Identified As Charleston Beard

The victim of Wednesday night’s homicide has been identified as Charleston P. Beard, 22.

Police said he was murdered in an alley on Vance Avenue late Wednesday night.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to the 2000 block of Vance Avenue regarding a man found lying in the alley.

Responding officers found the victim who had been shot and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Chattanooga Police Officer Arrested For Domestic Assault

Chattanooga Police Officer Brian Smith was arrested Thursday for domestic simple assault.   The criminal investigation has been completed by the CPD Family Violence Unit; however, the internal affairs investigation is still ongoing.   Officer Smith has been relieved from duty with pay pending the outcome of the IA investigation.    (click for more)
