Corker To Visit Japan, China And South Korea On Economic Mission

Senator Bob Corker, (R-Tn.), the ranking Republican member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and also an active member of the Banking Committee, departs this weekend for Japan, China and South Korea, all of which have new leaders, to focus on economic, political and security issues.

“The Asia-Pacific region is of critical strategic importance to the U.S., both from an economic and security standpoint, so I look forward to visiting at this time of political transition to see what new opportunities exist to strengthen partnerships that hold great potential to benefit all of our peoples,” said Senator Corker.  “Ensuring stability, promoting economic prosperity and enhancing cooperation on transnational issues are of great significance to U.S. interests in the Asia-Pacific, so discussion on these issues with officials and business leaders in all three capitals is of particular importance.”

During his trip to Tokyo, Beijing and Seoul, Senator Corker will meet with political and business leaders to discuss ways to strengthen strategic partnerships in the region and create new opportunities for growth and jobs in the U.S.


Police Told Stabbing Victim At Motel Was Trying To Force His Way Into Room

Police said a fatal stabbing at the Country Hearth Suites on E. 20th Street came after an argument over a dice game. William Morris Jr., 66, is charged in the Friday night death of Alexis Lewis, 51. Police Blotter: Woman Thief Takes Tools At Williams Street Motel

Police said a woman thief made off with some tools from a truck parked at a motel on Williams Street. But the $950 in items were found just behind the Motel 6. John Fellhauer said the tools were taken from his Silverado. He said two trays of tools were removed from his tool box. A motel video showed a white female get the tools and head for the dumpster. Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem

Baylor's Popp Wins First Spring Fling State Title

 Baylor sophomore Selena Popp won the Division II girls pentathlon Monday afternoon in Murfreesboro.  It is the first state championship of the 2013 Spring Fling.  Popp won the 100 meter hurdles and the high jump.  She edged out Evangelical Christian School's Kate Jamison by one point.   Teammate Victoria Wicks was third and Kate Kaufman was fifth.  ... State Soccer Brackets Released
