Neighborhood Eyesore - And Response

Thursday, March 21, 2013

I would like to inquire to the status of the property on 2422 Standifer Gap Road. The home was involved in a fire on Nov. 14, 2012. Since then, more than four months later, the house is still physically damaged from the fire and has police tape wrapped around the front part of the property.

Is there a time limit to repair this property? The police tape is an eye sore and a poor reflection on our neighborhoods and the value of our homes.

* * *

Probably a few hundred thousand others feel your pain, Mr. Cooper, every single day, as they go around Moccasin Bend on I-24 and look at the graffiti decorated trash heap that use to be Wheland Foundry and U.S. Pipe. Whoever owns that place is really doing a number on the attractiveness of Chattanooga to millions upon millions of visitors every year. I mean really people, do the owners even care about what visiting people and tourists think of this disgusting pile of rubbish? Everyone needs to encourage the local government to make the owners clean it up! Just think, you have the very well known Lookout Mountain and its attractions towering over a trash heap and I bet the people that live up there get as tired of looking at that mess as much as anyone does. About time the name "Scenic City" meant something again, don't you think? Yes, Mr. Cooper, we understand.

Unbeaten Country Club Swimmers Still Leading White Division

The Country Club Wavemakers have been a dominant force in the Chattanooga Area Swim League in years past when they were associated with Shepherd Hills. That was back about 30 or more years ago when they always had some incredible dual meets with the Cumberland Youth Foundation. Times have changed since those glory days, but coach Stan Corcoran is working hard to ... (click for more)
