In 2012, the L. A. Dodgers signed Yasiel Puig to a seven-year, $42 million contract. L.A. paid Puig a major price for a ton of potential, and he is showing off that potential this spring, hitting over .500 in the Cactus league as the Dodgers’ top-prospect.

Puig has been impressive in the Dodger farm system, with .354BA, .442 OBP, .634 SLG, and 15 RBIs. He has been on the Single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

This year, he is slated to start with the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts. However, if he keeps up what he is doing, he may make a giant Blue step.

At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, he was once called the fastest player in Cuban baseball. This spring, he has stolen four bases. Puig is a tremendous talent, and  the Cuban defector has even caught the eye of team manager Don Mattingly. “This guy is full of speed. He is a beast. When this guy comes around the bases, it’s a train coming.” he said.

If Puig can continue what he is doing in spring training, the Dodger organization has the potential to put another future MLB all-star in their outfield sometime in the future. Time will tell, but Puig is making a lot of noise for a Dodgers team that is trying to climb their way back to the top. Puig may also make that next big step sooner than anticipated.

He may start in double-A yet, but don't expect this talented outfielder to stay here for very long.

Thanks, Sheriff

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department is very responsive and professional out in Apison, and I appreciate that.  We have some fine deputies serving Hamilton County.    I took a minute to call and tell them thank you, I hope my neighbors will also. Brian Wood Apison (click for more)

Roy Exum: Please Send Me Funny Jokes
