A consultant envisioning a 2040 transportation plan for Chattanooga suggested a 15-mile light rail system that would go from downtown to the airport and on to Enterprise South Industrial Park.
Another suggestion was for a Bus Rapid Transit Line that would travel a 19-mile route along Highway 153 and U.S. 27 and cover areas from Hamilton Place to the airport and Northgate and Soddy Daisy.
Another idea is a premium bus express service on the freeways that would include Ringgold to Lookout Valley service and also Collegedale to downtown.
There would also be coverage for East Ridge and Red Bank in the proposal.
An expansion of the free shuttle was listed that would involve an east-west route to go along with the current north-south orientation.
The presentation was made at the Chattanoogan hotel.
