Keith Freeman told police he had a new $700 laptop computer and $16,000 in entertainment software he used in his business stolen while his SUV was parked at Lowe's on Gunbarrel Road.
Also taken from his black Chevrolet Equinox were a $30 laptop backpack and a Smith and Wesson handgun valued at $500.

Police said an employee of Dollar General on Highway 58 was caught on video allowing friends and family to get merchandise without paying and giving unauthorized discounts to other friends.
Kevin James Jr. was charged with theft under $500.

A man told police he was at the parking lot of the Microtel on McCutcheon Road when he found a silver handgun in the parking lot.
He said when he picked it up and was examining it, the gun fired a round that went into his left thigh and through his leg. It hit a cellphone that was in his pocket.
He was treated for his injuries at a local hospital.
The man said he tossed the handgun out the window on I-75 between Shallowford Road and East Brainerd Road on the way to the hospital. Police searched for the gun, but did not find it.
Police said a woman with him was interviewed separately and she gave the same story.

A business at 1950 Broad St. reported the theft of 12 batteries worth $95 each.
It is believed that the thief came in through a hole in the fence and then cut the batteries out of golf carts.

Jessica Ball said she put a bag of DVDs and a library book in front of the Family Dollar at 511 Market and went in to shop.
When she returned, the book as well as Diary of a Wimpy Kid and all the other DVDs were gone.

Owners of a car wash on Joiner Road reported that metal grates were stolen from four wash bays.
They are valued at over $2,000.
Two white males are seen on video taking the grates. They were driving a blue and gray Chevrolet Avalanche.

Peggy Harmon of Stuart Street said a miniature cue ball came flying in her front window.
She initially thought it had been a bullet.
The damage was listed at $900.

Alicia Stillwell said she was at a ballpark on Highway 58 when someone stole her purse out of her apparently-unlocked vehicle.
It contained $150 cash, gift cards and credit and debit cards.
