We Run For Sandy Hook Elementary 5K Fun Run And Walk Is April 27

Baylor boarding student Alex Lotko, a resident of Newtown, Conn. has organized We Run for Sandy Hook Elementary 5K Fun Run and Walk in support of her hometown.  It will be Saturday, April 27, at Baylor School, 171 Baylor School Road, and begins at 10 a.m.

This is an event for the whole family.  The 5K is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities.

We Run For Sandy Hook Elementary is about "honoring the memory of the precious lives lost on Dec. 14 and supporting Newtown as they continue to heal from this horrible tragedy."  One hundred percent of the profits from this event will be donated to the Newtown Memorial Fund.

Participants are asked to celebrate life and consider doing a random act of kindness to honor Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Register early, the field closes at 250 entrants. Virtual runners are unlimited.   Registration is available here

The registration and entry fees are:

5K Individual (Ages 18 and Over) - $25
5K Youth (Ages 11 - 17) - $15
5K Child (Ages 10 and Under) - $15
5K Baylor Upper School Student - $15
5K Baylor Middle School Student - $15
Virtual Runner (All Ages) - $25

Each online registration is charged a fee by Chronotrack, provider of registration services.  The fee is added onto the entry fee. 

If participants cannot be at the race on April 27, but would still like to be a part of the event to support and honor Sandy Hook Elementary, enter as a “Virtual Runner.” It is the same entry fee, but participants run or walk a 5K wherever and whenever they can.  They will be mailed a race shirt after April 27. 

There will be prized for Overall Top Male and Female, Top Masters Male and Female, Top Male and Female Child (10 and under), Top Male and Female Youth (11-17), Top Baylor Upper School Male and Female and Top Baylor Middle School Male and Female.
