Here is the weekly top 10 for Chattanooga Parks and Recreation:

#1  Swim Lessons Sign Ups Going On Now For Pre-School-Adults, $34
Cost is $34 for eight half hour lessons, cheapest in town. Pre-school through adult lessons available. Lessons begin March 16 at Brainerd for Saturday lessons, and March 18 for South Chattanooga. Stop by Brainerd (1010 Moore Road) or South Chattanooga (1151 W 40th St.) Community Centers and pick up a registration sheet, or Call Peggy at 697-1385 or click here.

 #2  Stroke Classes for Ages 6-Adult
Ideal program for participants who can swim one length of the pool both freestyle and backstroke. All four competitive strokes will be taught. This class is a great lead up and affordable program for swim team. Classes take place at South Chattanooga Community Center, Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. in St. Elmo. #3  Book a Summer Birthday Party at the Best Water Park in Southeast Tennessee
Park features 30 plus water features, large pool, kids pool, inflatable obstacle course and more.  Parties start at $90 for 2 hours for 25 guest during regular park operating hours. #4  Trail Running and Road Running Class at Outdoor Chattanooga Saturday
Randy Whorton of Wild Trails will offer a presentation on how to get running on Chattanooga's area trails. After the presentation, Randy will lead an off road run and Zach Winchester of Fast Break Athletics will lead a paved run on the Tennessee Riverpark. No reservations necessary.
The class is held at Outdoor Chatt in Cooldige Park Saturday from 11 a.m.-noon and cost is free. Call 643-6888 for more or click here

#5  Laughter Yoga for Kids and Teens in Lookout Valley, Free on Wednsdays
Join John A Patten staff for some fun. Gigglers will practice yoga with laughter exercises creating and atmosphere of playfulness and fun. This class promotes social skills, boundary awareness and self esteem.  Free on Wednesdays from 4-5 p.m. during March.  At 3202 Kelly's Ferry Road in Lookout Valley. 825-5955. #6  Your Teen Need Something to Do?
Check out the programs with Prevention and Youth Development Services next to South Chattanooga. Classes and opportunities include a developing radio show, recording studio, community outreach, photography and more. Classes are available every evening during the week. #7  Registration Open For Camp ZooAbility  
Camp ZooAbility is a week-long day camp for individuals who have cognitive and/or physical disabilities, that is held at the Chattanooga Zoo. Siblings are welcome to attend. Daily activities include, but are not limited to: swimming, arts & crafts, music, animal enrichment, and more.  For ages 6-12: June 24-28; ages 13-21: July 8-12; ages 22 and Up: July 22-26.  Cost is $75 and Registration forms available here.
 
#8  The Tennessee Mobile Career Coach In North Chattanooga March 19
Join the state of Tennessee staff as they help you with resume building, job interview skills, computer access, and most of all, help searching for jobs. All you need to do is bring an ID. All free. #9  Rescue Prom March 23 At Hixson Community Center - Free Dresses
Rescue Prom will join Hixson Community Center for this huge, one-day event offering thousands of free prom dresses, accessories, fittings and more. The entire gym floor will be filled. #10  Citywide Easter Egg Hung, March 28 at Warner Park

Holiday Schedule Announced For Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority

The Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority facilities will be closed on Monday, in observance of Memorial Day.  Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill and Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center, Westside Convenience Center, and the M.L. Lightning Strike At Collegedale City Hall Will Cost City Tens Of Thousands

Rogers, 20, Shot Twice While Standing On His Porch

A 20-year-old man was shot twice while standing on his porch on Monday night. At approximately 8:44 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a shooting that occurred in the 1900 block of Walker Street. Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem

The Delta Queen is a magnificent part of history and in many ways I'm pleased she is in town. Having the boat where she is is the problem. The boat blocks the view of and from the prettiest park in our town.
