Erlanger Offers Classes And Events For March 11-16

The Erlanger schedule of classes and events for March 11-16 includes family planning classes and diabetes education.  Registration is required.  For more information on our classes and events, call Erlanger HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465), seven days a week from 8 a.m. until midnight  HealthLink Plus is a free membership program open to adults 18 and older.  

Monday, March 11
Bariatric Support Group
5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Erlanger Chattanooga Lifestyle Center
Bariatric Support Group meetings are for individuals scheduled to have Bariatric surgery or who have already had weight loss surgery.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) for more information. 

Baby Care & Safety
6:30 – 8:45 p.m.
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel)
With times changing and discharge occurring earlier, “Baby Care” provides you with helpful items on caring for your baby at home.  This class will help you plan and prepare for a safe home environment.  Registration fee is $25.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 788-LINK (5465) to register.  

Diabetes Education Class
1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Erlanger Chattanooga Lifestyle Center
This class will explore ways to manage diabetes.  Call 778-9400 for more information on physician referral and insurance reimbursement.  

Thursday, March 14
Infant CPR Class
4-5 p.m. or 5-6 p.m.
Erlanger Baroness Campus (Downtown)
This one-hour class teaches basic CPR for an infant (birth to 1 year of age).  Class time includes infant safety instructions and hands-on practice of CPR and choking management techniques for an infant.  Anyone is welcome to take this class including parents, grandparents and babysitters.  Registration fee is $25.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register.  

Saturday, March 16
Boot Camp for Dads
9-11:30 a.m.
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
This session is for first time dads who want to learn more about the upcoming new addition in their family.  Topics include diapering, feeding, why babies cry and how to handle it, how you can help the new mom, learn about postpartum depression and general hands-on infant care.  A new “veteran” dad is invited (along with his new baby) to the class for question and answer time.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register.


15th Annual “Food For Life” Conference Is May 31-June 2

The Sequatchie Valley Institute (SVI), a non-profit environmental education and research center, will offer its annual “Food for Life” conference and workshops May 31-June 2. A man who police said was traveling 70 miles per hour on a side street in St. Elmo when he wrecked and killed one of his close friends was sentenced Monday to nine years in prison.
