Traffic on I-24 was backed up for most of the afternoon due to a tractor trailer that ended up on its side at the foot of the Ridge Cut. The truck was traveling west when it fell over slicing the top open on the median and spilling some debris into the left-hand lane of eastbound traffic.
One lane of traffic in each direction was closed and cars were barely moving in either direction. Traffic was backed up to Moccasin Bend on the eastbound side and to the split on the westbound side.
The accident happened at about 12:30 p.m. and TDOT hoped to have it cleared before 4 p.m.
The well-being of the driver has not been released. It does not appear there were any other vehicles involved.
