Tennessee National Guard soldiers from Chattanooga will return home on Thursday, after a one-year deployment supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in the Middle East.
The 1-181st Field Artillery, High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), with a total of 193 soldiers, is set to arrive at the Guard’s Volunteer Training Site in Smyrna at roughly 6:30 a.m.
The soldiers will complete their out-processing, which began at Camp Shelby, Ms., several days ago. After completing out-processing at Smyrna they will be released.
More than 27,000 Tennessee Army and Air National Guardsmen have deployed since Sept. 11, 2001.
