Rock City's 6th Annual Irish Festival Is March 16-24

Wednesday, March 06, 2013 - by Amanda Stravinsky

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in green-ified style at the sixth annual Irish Festival, named a Top 20 Event by Southeast Tourism Society, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 16-17, and 23-24, with Irish food, drinks, bands, Jig lessons, activities for kids and more.

Find the luck of the Irish where all you see is green. Wear your favorite green gear and come see the green waterfall cascade down Lookout Mountain. Learn how green fudge is made during the all-new fudge demonstrations in the famous Fudge Kitchen. Also new this year is the elf Rocky’s Haus, his new home along the Enchanted Trail.

Make sure to get decked out with “lucky clover makeovers” on your visit, and enjoy green kettle corn and green peppermint lattes or frappuccinos from Starbucks. Take your picture with a costume character or the Easter Bunny; eat some Mulligan Stew; pan for gold and journey with the kids on a Shamrock Quest. Venture to the climbing wall and “kiss the Blarney Stone.”

Called the “Ag-Gag bill,” similar efforts in other states have also soured because it is no more than a Catch-22 trick to protect those who abuse animals, ... (click for more)
