Erlanger Offers Classes And Events For March 18-21

The Erlanger schedule of classes and events for March 18-21 includes weight management information, childbirth education and nutrition advice for the cancer patient.  Registration is required.  For more information on our classes and events, call Erlanger HealthLink at (423) 778-LINK (5465), seven days a week from 8 a.m. until midnight  HealthLink Plus is a free membership program open to adults 18 and older. 

Monday, March 18

Bariatric Support Group

5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Erlanger Chattanooga Lifestyle Center

Bariatric Support Group meetings are for individuals scheduled to have Bariatric surgery or who have already had weight loss surgery.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at (423) 778-LINK (5465) for more information.

Wednesday, March 20

Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Seminar

6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)

Area residents who are overweight and /or with health problems related to obesity are invited to learn more about the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Center at Erlanger.  It is a free seminar and registration is required.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at (423) 778-LINK (5465) to register. Childbirth Education

5:30 – 8:45 p.m.

Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)

This childbirth education class/series is designed for expectant parents and taught by experienced OB nurses.  These classes include stages of labor, relaxation and labor support techniques, hospital procedures, pain management options, after birth and home care for moms and in-hospital care for newborns.  There will also be time for questions and answers.  Registration fee is $75.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at (423) 778-LINK (5465) to register.

Diabetes Education Class

1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Erlanger Chattanooga Lifestyle Center

This class will explore ways to manage diabetes.  Call 778-9400 for more information on physician referral and insurance reimbursement. 

Eating Well:  Nutrition for the Cancer Patient

4:30-5:30 p.m.

Erlanger Baroness (Oncology Conference Room)

This class will educate patients and caregivers on the basic nutritional needs as they progress trough their cancer treatment as well as to address treatment side effects impacting nutrition such as nausea/vomiting, taste alteration, dry mouth, sore mouth, decrease appetite, etc.
