Ooltewah seniors Adam Hubert and Karly Newman will be part history in the fall as they will continue their athletic careers with first year college programs.

Hubert will attend Berry College (Mt Berry, Ga.) to play football as the Vikings take to the gridiron for the first time in school history.

Newman will also travel down I-75 to Dalton College and be a member of the Roadrunners first varsity women's volleyball program in NAIA.

Hubert and Newman will officially announce their decisions Thurs Mar. 14 at 1 p.m. in the school theater.

Hubert, who is the Ooltewah student body president, lettered three years for the Owls football team at free safety and helped the Owls to a 9-4 record this past fall and berth in the state quarterfinals.

"I am excited about being part of a new program at Berry College and attending a college close to home was important to me so my family can attend many of our games," said Hubert who also runs track and is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a member of the Beta Club.

Berry College competes at the NCAA D-III level and is a member of the Southern Athletic Association which includes Sewanee, Oglethorpe and Birmingham Southern.

Newman was an outside hitter for the Owls volleyball team this past fall which won district, region and sectional championships.

She is also active in FCA, is a member of the National Honor Society and carries a 3.738 grade point average.

"I look forward to being part of the first volleyball team at Dalton College and playing for coach Bruna Langner and, like Adam, I chose a college close to home so my family can watch me play college volleyball," said Newman.
