Moccasin Bend Clean Water Authority Board Holds 1st Meeting; Chooses Payne As Interim Executive Director

The newly formed Moccasin Bend Clean Water Authority board held its first meeting on Thursday and named City Engineer Bill Payne as interim executive director. Mr. Payne will continue as city engineer as well for the time being.

Bruce Case was chosen chairman and Phill Ball as vice chairman. Maria Noel is secretary. Others on the five-member board are Mark Blazek and Don Moon.

The authority will oversee what is now the city of Chattanooga stormwater and sewer operations, including the regional Moccasin Bend Sewage Treatment Plant.

Mr. Payne said it is expected to take 8-15 months until the new authority is in position to take over the two programs.

The operation will have a budget of about $68 million and include some 262 employees.

The first meeting was held at the Development Resource Center.

Crime Stoppers: Fraudulent Suspect At Hobby Lobby

Crime Stoppers and the Chattanooga Police Department are seeking information regarding a fraudulent suspect from Hobby Lobby on Gunbarrel Road in Chattanooga.
