The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team fell at UNCG 4-3 this afternoon. The loss drops the Lady Mocs to 9-2 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference action. UNCG improves to 5-4 and 2-0 in league play.
None of the doubles matches were heavily contested. UNCG to the top match 8-3 while senior Jenna Nurik (Roswell, Ga.) and sophomore Kaylene Chadwell (Franklin, Tenn.) won 8-2 at No. 2. The Spartans took the point with an 8-3 win at No. 3.
Junior Alexa Flynn (Memphis, Tenn.) won her first match in over a month with a (6-2, 6-4) victory over Stephanie Falcon. Flynn missed five matches with an injury, but improved her spring record to 4-1 with today's win.
Chadwell won her 10th straight singles contest with a (7-5, 6-4) victory on Dilara Yurtkuran at No. 2. Sophomore Claira Mulyadi (Semarang, Indonesia) also won her 10th in a row with a three-set (6-4, 2-6, 6-3) victory against Soumeya Anane at No. 6.
Nurik lost a tough three-set match at No. 1 to Niltooli Wilkins (4-6, 6-1, 6-4) and freshman Kayla Jones (Memphis, Tenn.) lost for the first time this season at No. 3.
UTC stays on the road for tomorrow's match at Elon. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
