Georgia Northwestern Technical College's (GNTC) Troy Peco has been named one of nine finalists in the 2013 Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year Competition for the State of Georgia. Mr. Peco is the Automotive Technology director and instructor at GNTC's Walker County Campus. 

The finalists were named Wednesday night at a banquet at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta. The 2013 winner of the Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year Competition will be named on Thursday night.

County School Board members at a Thursday work session took turns rapping a state take-over plan for low performing schools. New Supt. Couple Arrested After 3-Year-Old Boy Brought To Hospital With Serious Injuries

A woman and her boyfriend have been arrested after her three-year-old son was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Police said the child had a broken left arm, fractured ribs, a lacerated kidney and a skull fracture with bleeding on the brain.
