Lena M. Bailey “Bootsie”, 65, died on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at her residence. 

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Washington Hills and sang in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Carlisle and Everlena Blanks; husband, John W. Bailey, Sr.; brothers, T. L. Woods, Sr., Cecil L. Woods, Sr., sister-in-law, Louise Woods.

She is survived by her sons, John W. Bailey, Jr. and Shawn (Kenessa) Bailey; brother, Bobby (Annette) Woods; sisters, Gennell (Lawrence) McDuffy, Ruthie Carlisle, Frances (Percy) Hollingsworth, Nonie Sturdivant, Gladys Carlisle White, all of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Juanita Grant of Knoxville; daughter-in-law, Valerie Bailey; granddaughters, Kashawna Bailey and Alena Bailey; sister-in-law, Nancy Carol Jackson, Beatrice Woods; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, April 27, at First Baptist of Washington Hills.  Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, April 26, and the family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
