A Right To Unionize Volkswagen

Sunday, April 28, 2013

It appears that local politicians in this area feel that our money is their money and they know what is best for us. I am a local resident and taxpayer whose contribution to Hamilton County's tax base helped pay for the development of the Enterprise South Industrial Park. I work at Volkswagen and it has been a boon to me and my family and the families of my coworkers.

Tim Boyd or Bill Haslam have no dog in this fight and I have the right to form a union in my workplace. It really makes you wonder what these guys' real agenda is because representing the interests of their actual constituents seems to be low on their priority list.

I suspect their real goals are to support local monied interests in their goals of keeping wages depressed in this region to exploit our local population. Their comments on our union organizing drive are a dead giveaway to their motives.

Gays, Transgenders, And The Bible

I was baptized as a young child in the Universalist Church,  now the Unitarian. My family, both sides, are Methodist going back to the 1800's. I was married in the Episcopal Church. I thought seriously about becoming a Catholic or even a Jew but felt too old to go through all the training. The religious intolerance I heard and read seems to reside mostly in the South. ... Teacher Anne Exum Made A Difference In My Life

I read Roy Exum every day. Most of the time I agree with him. Some times I disagree and other times I really really agree or really really disagree. On the subject of teacher day, this is one of those really really agree times. Slegers, Lookouts Shutout Biscuits Sunday, 1-0

Less than 24 hours after steamrolling the Lookouts 12-0 on Saturday night, the Biscuits bats were silenced by Aaron Slegers (2-1), as the 6'10" right-hander shutout the Biscuits 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in Chattanooga.   Slegers eight inning performance was his longest in 11 career Double-A starts and was the longest outing by a Lookouts pitcher this year.  The right-hander ... Baylor Baseball Complex Dedicated to the Etters and Wyatt McMahan

It was the summer of 1961 and a 10-year-old boy and a college grad were starting their baseball journey – a journey which would eventually connect them for decades to come. While Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris were chasing the ghost of Babe Ruth and the then home run record of 60 round trippers, Wyatt McMahan was in his first year in Joe Engel’s Knothole League in White Oak ...
