A special account has been set up at Blood Assurance in honor of Stan Crawley, longtime Chattanoogan.com sports writer who underwent extensive heart surgery over the weekend.

Family members said so much blood was used during his surgery that a drive was started to replenish the local blood supply.

The special account is 635998.

It does not matter what blood type a donor has.

Family members said Mr. Crawley, who is a member of the Tennessee Sports Writers Hall of Fame, is in need of continued prayer during the coming days.
