Oliver Springs’ Janelle Arthur narrowly escaped possible elimination on American Idol Thursday night but Nashville’s Kree Harrison was among the top three vote getters as only six remain in the competition.
New Orleans’ Burnell Taylor was the latest Idol finalist to be ousted leaving Lazaro Arbos as the only male remaining in the hunt for the 12th season title but while he is not the judges’ favorite, he, Ms. Harrison and Angie Miller received the most votes from over 21 million cast. The exact order of finish wasn’t revealed. However the odds overwhelmingly favor a female winning the title for the first time since 2007 as none of the top five ladies have yet to depart the Idol stage.
Ms. Arthur, the former Dollywood employee who named founder Dolly Parton as her musical Idol, performed the Billy Joel classic “You May Be Right” during last night’s tribute to Rock and received positive reviews from the judges.
Despite being hampered by a pinched nerve, Ms. Harrison continued to impress the judges and the voters with her cover of “Piece of My Heart”.
Also remaining in the competition are Massachusetts’ Angie Miller, South Carolina’s Candice Glover and Amber Holcomb of Houston.
