Lee’s Free Tax Assistance To End Saturday

The free tax preparation offered by Lee University’s Department of Business and the Internal Revenue Service will end this Saturday. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance will be available Friday and Saturday at the Walker Memorial Building in Room 107 on Lee’s campus. 

IRS certified junior and senior accounting students will provide assistance from 2:30-5:30 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday. They will not be filing midnight returns.

In its seventh year, the VITA program at Lee is a tax return preparation service for any taxpayer whose maximum gross annual income does not exceed $50,000. 

“This free tax preparation service is to the advantage of many of our neighbors,” said Greg Della Franco, assistant professor of accounting at Lee University and coordinator of the VITA program on campus.

2 Shot On W. 37th Street Early Monday Morning

Theresa Farris  Greene , 35, and  Corey Thompson, 31, were shot early Monday morning. Angela Faye Shepherd (formerly Parker), 50, was arrested early Sunday morning after stabbing another female. Chattanooga Police responded to 2302 Glass Street at 12:15 a.m. to an assault.
