American Red CrossTo Honor Southeast Tennessee Volunteers

The American Red Cross of Southeast Tennessee will observe National Volunteer Week with a Volunteer Leadership Luncheon and awards ceremony on Monday, April 22 at 11:30 a.m. at its office located at 801 McCallie Avenue in Chattanooga.  

Nominations, judged by the Red Cross Office of Volunteers from the East TN Region, will be awarded in two categories: Volunteer Leadership and a Special Citation for Exceptional Volunteer Service. Recipients can either be an individual or a group of individuals that form a team. 

The luncheon keynote speaker will be WDEF TV 12 News Anchor Amy Katcher, and Red Cross Community Chapter Executive Greg Waite will serve as emcee.

The American Red Cross of Southeast Tennessee relies on over 400 volunteers and the generosity of over 3100 donors to carry out its mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. 


East 5th Street Streetscape Project Begins Monday

East 5th St. will undergo sidewalk replacement and streetscape enhancements to add lights and trees along the streets starting on  Monday . Weekly Road Construction Report

Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County: U.S. 27 (I-124) widening from I-24/U.S. 27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge:  Work on this project continues.  The speed limit on U.S. 27 in the construction zone has been lowered to 45 MPH.  The contractor may have temporary ... Boyd Questions Effectiveness Of Read 20 Program; Coppinger Defends It
