NYC Actor And Chattanooga Native Reinvents The Vampire In Debut Novel

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

House of Vamp is the debut novel of Jesse McDowell. He is a native of Chattanooga and currently lives in Brooklyn, N.Y. where he works as an actor, filmmaker, entrepreneur, and now, writer.

"My original concept was to write the story of the Vamp family as a 30 minute mock-reality television series," said Mr. McDowell.  "Once I had written the pilot, I couldn't put these characters to sleep. Each one represents a part of myself - my insecurities, fears, and strengths. I still have great hopes of this family being brought to life on the small or large screen but for now, their venture into reality TV will be told through this novel series, House of Vamp."

Review for House of Vamp:

The Vamps are leaders in the high-end fashion industry and they suck, blood that is. For over a century the House of Vamp family has built a brand around themselves as modern-day vampires. When their latest House of Vamp show at New York's Fashion Week breaks records, the family of nine’s next move is obvious: a reality series. Heir Vamp, father and head of the household, jumps at the chance to reveal to the world the truth, that vampires are not monsters. His wayward brood, however, risk exposing sibling rivalry, anorexia, adolescent rebellion, both gay and straight promiscuity and a slew of addictions to an international viewing audience.

Transylvania and Dracula are so last season. For vampires, Beverly Hills is the new black. Combining the recent vampire fad and the popularity of reality shows, this family of vampires is anything but ordinary. With new vampiric characteristics and a fresh approach to the struggles of the 'undead,' every reader will find someone with whom to identify, whether it be the stoic patriarch, the organized right-hand, the well-meaning stepmother, the flirtatious bachelor, the drama queen, the forgotten middle child, the black sheep of the family, or the rebellious youngest.

The print version of House of Vamp is available through Createspace.com and Amazon.com. The ebook versions are available through Amazon Kindle and Smashwords.com.
