A car driving on the side of Lookout Mountain collided with a bicyclist taking part in the 3 States 3 Mountains bicycle ride on a soggy Saturday afternoon, killing the bicyclist.

The incident happened at 12:18 p.m. in the 400 block of Ochs Highway.

The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Antonio Jose Desousa Ribeiro from Jacksonville, Fla.

Police said witness statements and evidence at the scene show that Mr. Ribeiro was riding his bicycle down Ochs Highway, rounding a curve.
