Sequatchie Eliminates CCS In District 7A/AA Baseball

Sequatchie County beat Chattanooga Christian 12-3 Tuesday afternoon in the second game of a best of three District 7-AA semifinal. 

Sequatchie County scattered 14 hits over seven innings and scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning.  

Thomas Willoughby and Logan Wells had three RBI's  for the Indians while Dakota Hudson had two RBI's. Willoughby also had two doubles.  

CCS got RBI's by Levi Corbett, Garrett Woody and Jonathan Farlett.  Daniel Vizoso had a double.

 

Jake Pickett earned the win for Sequatchie County and Zach Mercer got the loss for CCS.

CCS ends their season with a 14-9-1 record.  Sequatchie County will advance to the District 7A/AA championship game.

Feds Say East Ridge Judge, Commissioner Owe Taxes To IRS

A civil suit has been filed in Federal Court by the Internal Revenue Service against East Ridge City Judge Cris Helton and his former wife, East Ridge Commissioner Esther Helton, saying they owe taxes. Thomas de Matteis, 54, of Hazel Green, Ala., was sentenced on Monday by Federal Judge Sandy Mattice to serve 10 years in federal prison for coercing or enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity.
